On-grid
Solar + TANGEDCO grid, with net metering. No battery.
How it works
- 1Panels convert sunlight into DC power during the day.
- 2The on-grid inverter converts DC to AC and synchronises with the EB supply.
- 3Your home uses solar power first; any shortfall comes from the grid.
- 4Extra solar power is exported, and the net meter records import and export for billing adjustment as per TANGEDCO rules.

- Lowest upfront cost — no battery to buy or replace
- Largest reduction in EB bill through net metering
- Eligible residential systems can apply for PM Surya Ghar + TN subsidy
- Very low maintenance — mainly panel cleaning and periodic checks
Best for: Homes and businesses with reliable EB supply that want the biggest bill savings.
Good to know: During a power cut the inverter switches off automatically for line-worker safety (anti-islanding), so there is no backup.
